The Credit Analyst will work with the Commercial Relationship Managers and Approved Dealers in the decisioning and analysis of all types of credit information to support lending decisions for the bank for customers under $1MM in exposure\. They will maintain and promote a customer service environment to satisfy and exceed customer needs and expectations\. The Credit Analyst is accountable to maintain and support the lending process\. This role will make credit decisions and recommendations in accordance with sound credit\-granting principles and in compliance with Bank Policies & Procedures
+ Prepare and analyze financial information, occasionally review financial statements and other related material
+ Provide accurate financial analysis and risk assessment of new and existing customers
+ Exercise discretionary lending limits as delegated by the 2nd LOD to recommend transactions to the 2ndLOD and ensure recommendations are in accordance with sound credit\-granting principles
+ Ensure accuracy of financial analysis utilizing Paynet, D & B, and Credit Bureaus
+ Conduct analysis of client capital and credit risk\.
+ Partner with Commercial Sales Representatives for accurate, detailed client information\.
+ Partners with pre\-audit funding team on all funding delays that require a credit analyst’s attention
**Decisions/ Recommends Credit Applications**
+ Develop credit information for use by commercial relationship managers in making lending decisions on new, renewal and extension loans
+ Exercise individually\-held Commercial unilateral and approval discretionary limit\(s\) ensuring credit decisions and/or recommendations are in accordance with sound credit\-granting principles and in compliance with the Bank’s policies and related procedures completing analysis; confirming security valuations; completing and approving credit applications for authorization under Commercial Lending Process
+ Assist in negotiations of terms and conditions of all decisions made via Phone and Email interaction with customers\.
**Credit Risk Management**
+ Ensure adherence to lending directives found in our Credit Underwriting Guidance Document
+ Advise and recommend alternative means of financing for all borrowers/ prospects when it is determined that loan structure is not in the best interest of BMO
+ Partners with the compliance team to process all REG B activities
+ Protect the Bank’s assets and maintain quality of portfolio by adhering to lending processes, policies & procedures, legal and ethical requirements and regulations, audit requirements, and established risk guidelines\.
+ Prepare summary, present facts and offer opinions concerning credit worthiness\.
+ Minimize BMO’s risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures with respect to lending decisions\.
+ Satisfy and exceed customer needs and expectations
+ Provide customer with advisory capabilities in credit related matters
+ This position requires Credit Qualification\. The incumbent must possess a basic level of Credit knowledge and skills and a basic level of Portfolio Management knowledge and skills according to the standards established within the Credit Qualification process Policies and Procedures\.
+ Bachelor’s degree\. Preferably in a business related field\.
+ 3\-5 years of previous Commercial Loan and Credit analyst experience required\.
+ Professional certification;
+ In depth specific functional knowledge and broad business knowledge\.
+ Strong analytical skills\.
+ This position requires Credit Qualification\. The incumbent must possess a working level of Credit knowledge and skills according to the standards established within the Credit Qualification Process Policies & Procedures\.
+ Credit analysis experience/ understanding\.
+ Good knowledge of the organizational lending and portfolio management policies and objectives\.
+ Exceptional skills in quantitative analytics and credit analysis skills\.
+ Highly developed written and oral communication skills\.
+ Strong proficiency in other Microsoft Office products and the Internet\.
+ Ability to make timely and sound transactional decisions in a fast paced, production environment in accordance with policies and directives\.
+ Strong interpersonal skills used within a demanding team environment and in client interaction\.
+ Ability to work under limited supervision\.
+ Basic understanding of risk management concepts
+ Ability to learn and adapt quickly\.
+ Ability to review, assess, and provide detailed information daily\.
+ Excellent capability to independently and proactively service multiple clients\.
